I could not agree more about every single one of your comments on why not to have a party! These are tough times, and it is a total waste of funds and energy and absolutely sends the wrong message. Why bother?
And one more thing: it is an obligation to the staff….some of them would prefer not to have to attend.
We are taking the small group out to dinner, and that is only because my husband is insisting But he is now reading your incredibly mind boggling and awesome book, and I believe things are changing.

I agree with this, most people are outright lazy. But I think this kind of party is OK to use as a reward tool if the company has done great overall for the quarter, or if it serves some beneficial social purpose (ie. publicity and advertising)
